Leathercraft and wine evenings
Learn traditional leathercraft skills to handmake your own full-grain leather Card Wallet, Belt, Glasses Case, or Dog Collar in my Brixton home studio.
In these workshop evenings, you'll learn about the raw materials themselves and age-old crafting techniques in a small group of up to 4 people. Select your preferred leather shade, hardware and thread colour, and even personalise with name or initials. You’ll receive guidance on every step of the process to create your item to hopefully enjoy the learning journey, all elevated by some great wine and nibbles. A great date night activity, way to spend an evenings with friends, way to come and meet new people, or give a voucher as a creative gift.
FAQs
What products can I make?
Choose from various designs of card holders, a glasses cases, belts, and dog collars. You can find more information within each of the workshop descriptions above.
Do I have to have any experience?
No experience required! I'm hoping through these workshops to expose more people to traditional leathercrafting as an ancient craft that bucks the fast fashion trend of today.
What leather is used and where is it sourced from?
I use the finest leather from the renowned Badalassi Carlo tannery. It is "full grain" vegetable tanned skin which means - unlike most leather found in products today - it doesn't have any plastics coating or other nasties added. I use the "Pueblo" leather which has a rustic and natural appearance.
Do I need to bring anything?
Nothing but yourself, everything else is provided.
How do I care for my product?
Your product should stand the test of time made from high-quality leather with well-finished, burnished edges so it shouldn't require a huge amount of care. Avoid letting the leather get too wet - when it does get wet, gently dry it and apply leather-care wax/oil to give it back some waterproofing and nourishment. Be careful not to misshape it whilst wet as it becomes more malleable! The leather I use has a natural finish so scaring, healing, and the development of a shiny patina over time and with handling is a natural part of the leather ageing process.
